Carbon Reduction
Policy Statement

Last Updated Ferbuary 2026:

Nu City Civils is committed to reducing our environmental impacts and are currently working towards
government targets set out in the Climate Change Act 2008.

The management of our carbon emissions is a long-term commitment and supports our belief in making
tomorrow a better place. This policy statement represents our environmental stance and the practices we
apply when conducting business.

The Climate Change Act 2008 includes a target of 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, to be
achieved through action in the UK and abroad.

The two key aims of the act are:
• To improve carbon management, helping the transition towards a low-carbon economy in the UK
• To demonstrate UK leadership internationally, signalling our commitment to taking our share of
responsibility for reducing global emissions in the context of developing negotiations.

Our commitments
We are dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint and working towards the targets set out in the Climate
Change Act 2008 and are committed to the overall aim of reducing the negative impact our business has on
the environment. To achieve this, we are committed to:

• Evaluating alternative fuel cars to ascertain their potential benefit to the fleet
• Ensuring vehicles are properly maintained, for better performance and less emissions
• Identifying opportunities to reduce mileage by recording and analysing business travel and incorporating
fuel-efficient driving principles, as well as using public transport and work from home where possible.
• Promoting safe, economic, and environmentally friendly driver training
• Ensuring mileage reimbursement rates and travel allowance rates are environmentally sensitive and do
not encourage drivers to make excessive journeys
• Promoting satellite navigation and telematics systems helping drivers to avoid congestion and take the
most efficient route to reach their destination
• Using locally based staff and use of public transport to reduce time driving
• Setting out policies to manage the added risks, costs, and environmental impacts of the ‘grey’ fleet
• Procurement and use of low-carbon products and equipment across the business
• Working in partnership with our clients and supply chain partners to assist them in achieving their own
carbon reduction measures and targets.

Implementation
This policy will be reviewed annually by the Managing Director, who will monitor the effectiveness of the policy
and its associated initiatives.
